Situated on the Larzac plateau, La Couvertoirade was founded by the “Templiers” (Knights Templar) during the XIIth century, then taken over by the “Hospitaliers” (Knights of St. John of Jerusalem) during the XVth century, a real miniature medieval village astonishingly well preserved. Its walls are listed as «Ancient Monuments», and the village possesses the title of « the most beautiful village in France”.
